Canes, Panthers Swap Dadonov, Prospects
Standard Spin: The Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes traded prospects Thursday, with Evgenii Dadonov and AJ Jenks going to Carolina, and Jonathan Matsumoto and Mattias Lindstrom heading to Florida.
The most notable player in the deal is Dadonov, who we profiled as a sleeper in our preseason draft guide. He's spent the season bouncing between the AHL and the big leagues, managing only 3 points in 15 games with the Cats. Obviously we whiffed on that pick - cut us a little slack, we also called Joffrey Lupul - but we still like Dadonov's skill set and believe he can develop into a fantasy contributor for the future.
For now, Dadonov is a player for keeper or dynasty league owners, but keep an eye on what he does over his first few games with the 'Canes. There are rumblings that he could be plugged in on a line with Eric Staal, and how many times have we seen a change of scenery light a fire under a player, especially a young and talented one in the midst of a slump.
