STL Chris Stewart Demoted to 4th Line

(2/16/12) A lot of fantasy owners had high hopes for Stewart coming into the year, but it just hasn't materialized for the Blues forward.  He has only three points in his last 12-games, and St. Louis coach Ken Hitchcock is dropping him to the fourth line to send a message.

Hitchcock was quoted by St. Louis Today saying, "before you can think about scoring goals, you've got to start to work...  Does this get his attention and do all that stuff?  We'll see, but we need him to have way more impact on the game.  He's too good a player to just go quietly by the night."

Stewart, to his credit, said all the right things in regard to the benching.  "I'm obviously trying out there, giving it my all every night.  But at the end of the day, if they don't feel that's good enough, then I've got to show more.  It's up to them to give me the job description and up to me to do it.  The good thing about this game is we've got another game tomorrow... come out and give it my best...  That's been my whole career.  I feel like I hold my own cards in my own hand.  It's up to me to do it."

If you're Stewart's owner, that's exactly what you like to hear.  With that said, it's time for us to see something now, so let's hope this lights a fire and sets him back on track.
