Zidlicky in the Devils' Sights

Minnesota defenseman Marek Zidlicky is reportedly unhappy with his recent benching and has told the Wild he is willing to waive his no-trade clause.  It's also being reported that Zidlicky is on his way to the Devils, but Wild GM Chuck Fletcher told the Minneapolis Star Tribune Wednesday, "I can tell you for sure I'm planning on talking to other teams.  We haven't traded Zid, we haven't made the decision to trade Zid at this point.  I have not formally asked him to do anything becase at this point I honestly don't have anything to take to him.  I don't have anything for him to say yes or no to."

Zidlicky hasn't scored a goal this year and has only 13-points in 39-games, and it's been a disappointing season.  A move to New Jersey might help though, as the Devils need help on the power-play, and Zidlicky would likely see better opportunities in a fresh situation.  Even still, Zidlicky's defensive stats are all but non-existent, so his only value comes in points-only leagues.  If he's traded, bump him up a few notches in status, but know that his best days are probably behind him.  (2/15/12)
