Double Hat Trick All the Way

(4/14/12) Wow, 8-5!  We knew this series was going to be high-flying, but it is readily apparent that no lead is safe, especially if it belongs to the Pittsburgh Penguins.  Once again, with the Pens up 3-1, the Flyers rallied for the tie by the midway mark of the second period, and then went on to outscore the Pens 7-2 over the final two frames.

Claude Giroux (3G, 3A) and the breakout performance of rookie Sean Couturier (3G, 1A) stole the show: both players recorded a hat trick in the game.  Max Talbot and Jakub Voracek with 2A each.  Interestingly, Giroux and Couturier recorded 10 of the Flyers' 19 total points.  If the Penguins could render Giroux ineffective, they might be able to get back into this series, as the Pens' offense is more evenly distributed.  Malkin, Crosby, Neal, Kunitz, and Dupuis all had 2 points.  Check out the highlights, this was a game for the ages:

Other forward notes: Mikael Samuelsson and Danius Zubrus both had 2 points, and Versteeg, Elias and Bergenheim all scored in the Devils' Game 1 win over the Panthers.  Andrei Kostitsyn and Johan Franzen both scored in the Red Wings' 3-2 win.  And Dustin Brown had 2G and 1A in the Kings' Game 2 victory in Vancouver.  For the Canucks it simply looked like everyone was squeezing their sticks too hard.  Without Daniel Sedin, all of VAN's line combinations are out of whack.
