Moulson, Tavares Both hit 30; Ovechkin Close

(3/14/12) What's that, the playoffs are about to start?  Despite all the distractions that come along with being prima donnas, the Washington Capitals are beginning to look like a playoff team again.  Tuesday night, after falling behind 4-1, the Capitals battled back on the road and defeated the NY Islanders 5-4.  Alex Ovechkin scored 2 of the final 3 goals, including the GWG, and is now up to 29 on the year.  Ovechkin is so talented that he could still reach 40 with only 12 games to go.

The final playoff spot is suddenly the Capitals' to lose.  They are up by 4 points on Buffalo and both teams have played 70 games.  In fact, the Capitals could easily still take the SE Division crown, while the Panthers are the actual bubble team.  We bet the Caps get in, the Panthers are basically a coin flip.

Other game notes: John Tavares and Matt Moulson both reached the 30 goal plateau on Tuesday.  Tavares also had an assist and currently sits 7th in NHL scoring.  Tavares is so talented that he could lead the league as early as next season.
