Elliott Three Straight Shutouts

(3/28/12) Blues netminder Brian Elliott has three straight goose eggs!  On Tuesday, he shut out the Predators 3-0 in a preview matchup of the two teams we think are the favorites to emerge from the Western Conference playoffs.

After seeing the decisive win, we might be forced to bump St. Louis to the top of the rankings in the final Playoff Guide update (available Apr. 9).  We cited the Blues' collective inexperience as the reason they aren't already at the top, but gauging by their play of late, they appear to be head and shoulders above any other team in the West, and their pair of aces between the pipes is the big reason why.

Elliott and Jaroslav Halak have combined for 15 shutouts this season, breaking the Blues' team record for most in a single season.  The record was previously set in 1968-69 by a couple of guys you might have heard of... Jacques Plante and Glen Hall.  That year, the Blues lost in the Cup Final.
