Nilsson Earns First NHL Shutout
(3/5/12) Islanders goalie Anders Nilsson made 24 saves to earn his first NHL shutout in a 1-0 win over the Devils Sunday. In fact, it was his first NHL win! Pretty nice way to start a career...
Considering starter Evgeni Nabokov has been a little shaky as of late - 17 goals allowed in his last five starts - and that Al Montoya is battling an upper-body injury, Nilsson may have earned a few more looks down the stretch. He's not worth picking up in standard formats, but he's an intriguing prospect for keeper owners. He's got great size and takes up a lot of net - 6'5", 220 pounds - and he has impressive body control for a big man.
