Friday's Injury Update

(2/17/12) The Canucks have announced that Keith Ballard will not only miss Saturday's game, but he will also not be joining the team on its up-coming 6-game roadtrip.  According to The Province, Ballard is dealing with a UBI/neck injury and might not be back until March 1st; however, he could also heal and join the team out on the road.

After collecting a massive 83 PIMs in just 14 games, Tom Sestito is done for the next 6-8 weeks after "busting up his hand or wrist" in a fight against Zack Kassian on Thursday.   As brutal as this injury is, it's actually Sestito's groin that has him on the shelf - an injury that will need surgery.  Sestito may have a tough time getting back in the line-up this year, but remember him at next September's fantasy draft if you are searching for depth at the enforcer position.

Islanders' defenseman Travis Hamonic has been placed on injured reserve due to "a broken nose and other facial injuries."  Hamonic has been out since the incident last Feb. 4th, when he took an Ehrhoff slapshot to the face.
