Friday Injury Update

(2/24/12) The daily Sidney Crosby rumors seem to have died down lately, but there was a blip on the radar screen Thursday as Crosby participated in practice for only the third time since his setback.  According to the Pittsburgh Tribune, he sat out any drills that could have resulted in contact, but he did exert himself at full speed at other times.  While it feels good to see Crosby on the ice and going hard, this news doesn't change his status whatsoever, and unfortunately there's still no time-table for a return.

In bizarre news, Senators goalie Craig Anderson was injured in a freak kitchen accident.  He severely cut his hand while slicing food at home late Wednesday, but what's not funny is that he's out at least ten days, and some reports have claimed up to 6-8 weeks.  Talk about a bad break for fantasy owners... your goalie goes to grab a midnight snack and ends up on IR.

Getting back to the routine stuff, the newest San Jose Shark Dominic Moore sat out Thursday against the Leafs with a lower-body injury.  He's day-to-day going forward.

As expected, Ed Jovanovski returned against the Wild after missing 14 games with a broken hand.  Also as expected, he was held without a point.

For the Stars, Sheldon Souray returned after missing seven games with a bruised foot.  He was plus-one on the night and clocked in for his usual workload.  And Jamie Benn missed his fourth straight game since being cut on his thigh by a skate.  He remains doubtful going into the weekend's games and is targeting a return on Tuesday.
