Patrick Kane's Amazing Disappearing Act
Standard Spin: Patrick Kane was a 'no show' once again in the game against the Wild on Thursday. Kane has mysteriously gone quiet over the past month. In his last 15 games, Kane has only 2 goals and 7 points, he's slipped way down the NHL scoring leader board, and is now 4th in scoring in Chicago. Even Jonathan Toews has cooled of late, with only 2 points in his last 4. With Patrick Sharp injured the pressure on Kane to produce will increase slightly, but pressure is not something that Kane appears to be worried by and the Sharp injury may actually help him get it going again by increasing his ice time.
One of the main problems for Kane is that he has been stuck on the second line behind Toews, Hossa and Sharp. Now that Sharp and Carcillo are injured, the CHI coaching staff will probably be forced to reunite the dynamic duo of Toews and Kane, along with Hossa, to create the dreaded "super line." Kane has to get it going at some point here. Hopefully hockey poolers have been able to bridge the gap for the time being. (Jan.13)
