Brassard and Selanne Star in CLB Win
Standard Spin: "Old Man Hockey" Teemu Selanne continued his solid play on Friday, recording his 17th and 18th goals of the season - with one on the PP; however, Derrick Brassard was the hero. After scoring his 8th in the second, he won it in OT on an unassisted marker with just over a minute to go in the extra frame.
Brassard is one of these players who is stuck playing for a loser and may never live up to his 6th overall draft spot in 2006 because of it. He has just 19 points in 44 games this year. His best junior year was 2005-06 when he had 116 points in 58 games for Drummondville (QMJHL). Rick Nash and the Blue Jackets will have to find an entirely different level if Brassard is going to ever attain the potential he was touted to have coming out of the draft. A trade could also be what Brassard needs, although that is unlikely. (2/4/12)
