Tavares: The Best Player No One Talks About

Standard Spin: He's the number one draft pick from three years ago, he's only 21, and he plays for New York's "other team."  But, here we are at just about the 50 game mark in the 2011-12 season and Jonathan Tavares is emerging as a total offensive stud.  He scored both Islanders' goals on Saturday, including the OT GWG, and now has 19 goals and 48 points in 46 games.  He is 12th in the NHL in scoring, which is only 7 points behind the league leader Evgeni Malkin.  Ummm... Beuller?  Anyone?

If he can continue to avoid injury, Tavares is going to lead the league in scoring within a couple years.  That's right, we are talking Art Ross material here.  He's absolutely clutch and there is very little pressure on him during this developlmental period in his career.  Savvy keeper owners should make a move to secure him for their rosters going forward.

Speaking of good players, Jeff Skinner scored in the game - his first goal in 4 games since returning from injury. (Jan.22)
